Here are some of the top San Francisco spots to check out when shopping for the perfect festival-ready outfit (all located on Haight St.):
- Piedmont Boutique
- Wild Feather
- Land of the Sun
- Ceiba SF
- Held Over
4. Pack the Essentials
Try your best to only pack what you absolutely need, such as your wallet, phone, layers, and a small bag if needed. Be sure your bag or backpack is no larger than 6″ x 8″ x 3.
Knowing what’s NOT allowed can help you decide what to bring. Some of the items not permitted in the festival include:
- Non-clear drawstring backpacks
- Weapons of any kind (including pocket knives)
- Alcohol (will be sold at the festival)
- Glass or cans of ANY kind
- Video or audio recording equipment (including GoPros – no video recording will be allowed)
- Skateboards, scooters, or personal motorized vehicles
- Bicycles (not allowed inside festival grounds)
- Strollers, wagons, or carts of any kind
- Umbrellas
- Liquids (excluding personal-sized hand sanitizers, which will be permitted)
- Pets (except service animals)
Find the full list here.
5. Get the Outside Lands App
Download the Outside Lands mobile app for iOS and Android once it’s available. This way, you can stay updated about event info and any lineup changes on your phone. With the app, you can find a map of the grounds, register your wristband, and get a rundown of what’s on tap at the food trucks.
6. Know How to Get There
When it comes to actually getting to the festival, we do not recommend driving, as parking is unavailable and is very limited in the surrounding neighborhoods. There are many methods of travel, including local shuttles, rideshares, MUNI, BART, walking, scooters, and bikes.
If you plan to get dropped off at Outside Lands, know that some streets will be congested or closed entirely to traffic. You can expect nearby streets to be especially congested before and after the event. So we suggest getting dropped off several blocks north or south of the park. Geary Blvd or Balboa St to the north or Irving Street to the south are recommended.
If you’re flying into California for the music event, San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is approximately 30 minutes from the festival site. Oakland International Airport (OAK) is approximately 50 minutes from the festival site.
7. Plan to Unwind After the Festival
Don’t forget to recoup after the festival both mentally and physically after what’s sure to be a wild weekend of fun. Not only does Live Fit Gym offer one of the best gyms in San Francisco, it also has one of the best spas with wonderful masseuses, saunas, acupuncture, chiropractic, facials, and so much more.
